Built for restoration contractors
Put your best invoice forward, every month.
When you submit a package that’s already been combed through, it sets the tone: you’re watching the work, you’re not passing through what shouldn’t be passed through, and the auditor on the other side has less to hold. Overtrace makes that the default instead of a heroic month-end.
The problem
The month-end audit lands on the most expensive person on the project.
Your best people, doing forensic math.
Hours of senior time every month spent footing spreadsheets and matching timesheets — time that should go to the next loss.
The trades bill their way.
Each trade sends its own format, its own backup, its own mistakes. Some are savvy; some send it back wrong twice.
The client pays either way.
If the insurer reimburses half, the owner still owes you the whole — and the relationship absorbs the difference.
The solution
Audit every trade before it goes out, and send the backup with it.
Drop in the package, ask “does it check out?”
One PDF per trade. Overtrace reads every page and returns the exceptions, ranked by dollars, in minutes.
Dispute letters the trades can act on
Each item says which page, which line, and why — the detail a trade needs to fix it the first time.
A clean, bookmarked package
An annotated PDF with every finding highlighted and every page bookmarked by document and day, ready to assemble into the owner’s invoice.
Rules for your projects
Per diem policies, hotel bills, PPE, equipment — write the rule once in plain English and it’s checked on every invoice after.
Measured against the outside auditor
Import the insurer’s audits and see, rule by rule, how closely your own review matched — and where it found more.
Questions
Common questions.
Does this replace the person who audits our invoices?
No — it gives them their evenings back. Overtrace does the line-by-line reconciliation; your reviewer makes the calls with the evidence in front of them, in a fraction of the time, and spends the rest on work that grows the business.
Can we use it across multiple projects?
Yes. Each project and trade has its own packages, rules and reports, and rules that work on one project can be reused on the next.
Can it read handwritten timesheets and scanned receipts?
Yes. Typed billing sheets are parsed directly; scanned pages, handwritten sign-in sheets and photographed receipts are read by AI vision. Names are matched even when they’re misspelled, reversed or abbreviated. Any finding that depends on handwriting is marked medium confidence, and hard-to-read pages are listed so a person can look.
How is Overtrace priced?
As a small percentage of the T&M value audited — well below what recovery-audit firms typically charge — billed monthly for active projects, with no annual commitment. Many teams carry it as a cost of the work. Every engagement starts with a pilot on real invoices.
