Built for GCs, owners & owner’s reps

Hold every trade to what was signed & what was agreed.

You signed the T&M tickets in the field. Overtrace makes sure that’s what you’re billed for — reconciling each trade’s monthly package against those tickets, its contract & its receipts, and drafting the response with the evidence attached.

The problem

Trade billing gets approved because checking it takes longer than paying it.

  • Hundreds of pages per trade.

Multiply by every trade billing T&M and the review either takes a week or doesn’t happen.

  • Signed tickets, ignored.

The field ticket is the agreement. The invoice is written in an office a month later, from a different sheet.

  • No record of what you let through.

When the owner or auditor asks why a charge was approved, the reasoning is in someone’s head.

The solution

A defensible audit of every trade, with every decision recorded.

  • Signed tickets as the record

Overtrace treats what was signed in the field as the golden standard and flags every billed hour, machine or crew member it doesn’t support.

  • Contract terms that enforce themselves

Markups, rate schedules & allowances are pulled from each subcontract and checked on every invoice.

  • Decisions with a paper trail

Every dispute and every approval is attributed and logged, so you can show who decided what, and why.

  • Roles for the whole team

Viewers, reviewers & admins, so project teams can review while finance signs off.

  • Exports for everyone

A dispute letter for the trade, a workbook for finance, and an annotated PDF for the file.

Questions

Common questions.

Does Overtrace work with pay applications?

Overtrace audits time-and-materials billing and its backup — the part of a pay application that’s hardest to verify. Lump-sum schedule-of-values billing is outside its scope today.

How do I know a finding is right?

Every finding shows the line that was billed next to the record that contradicts it, with the deciding number boxed on the page image — for example, billing detail p.144 checked against the signed T&M on p.51 — and names the rule that flagged it. Code does the matching and the math, so the same package always produces the same findings, and your decisions show which rules to trust, tune or automate.

Who on our team uses it?

Usually a project accountant, cost manager or project manager reviews the exceptions, with finance or a project executive signing off. Access is by invitation, with viewer, reviewer, admin and owner roles.

How is Overtrace priced?

As a small percentage of the T&M value audited — well below what recovery-audit firms typically charge — billed monthly for active projects, with no annual commitment. Many teams carry it as a cost of the work. Every engagement starts with a pilot on real invoices.
